Community projects are an inspiring part of our service to Kansas City. Our members engage with students in districts that are in most need of support, offering in-school performances and workshops.

In 2024, KCBC offered the Baroque Music Intensive, an opportunity for advanced string students to participate in side-by-side rehearsals and a performance with our professional members. Audience members at the August 2024 concert heard our featured students, the Fang Brothers Trio. They also joined the full ensemble for the program finale of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4.

KC Baroque wins Outreach Grants from Early Music America and the Martha Lee Cain Tranby Fund

In 2019, the Kansas City Baroque Consortium was one of eight ensembles nationwide awarded an Early Music America mini-grant to present special outreach projects during “Early Music Month” in March.

With the additional support of the Martha Lee Cain Tranby Foundation, KCBC presented “Swirls, Twirls, Stomps, and Curls: The Ins and Outs of Baroque Style” to young music students at Harmony Project KC and Blue Valley Middle School.

KCBC presented a mini-concert and workshop for these young musicians exploring core elements of music expression, and we offered an up close look at how string instruments and the harpsichord are made.
